Hello! I am thinking about opening a Seafood restaurant in the Los Angeles area. Can anyone tell if restaurants are worth your time and money? Profitable? Thanks!

There aren't many good seafood restaurants in the LA area, so if you are going for up-scale in the right location, it should do well (I hope you have a background in the restaurant business with lots of capital). Red Lobster is like going to Sizzler for steak, it is bottom to middle of the road at best. Gladstone's is a bit better. For really good seafood in LA (aside from sushi), I would say either Enterprise Fish Co. in Santa Monica (1st pick) or McCormick & Scmick's (several locations).

Go to the Outrigger Reef on the beach. If you are looking at the beach from the hallway of the htel, the restaurant on the left kicks butt!! The seafood is pretty good, but the most fun is that you get to cook the food yourself on the huge grill. They also have an amazing breakfast buffet, that is fairly inexpensive. My husband, daughter and I spent 10 days at this hotel and had a blast. Enjoy!

Very profitable IF and that's a BIG IF you can make it work. Unfortunately 9 out of 10 restaurants fail.

Honestly,

No profit. Too many restaurants in this town. Many go out of business.

Problem is LA is based on Trend, and the restaurant clientelle is looking for the best "New place"!

I love going to restaurants, Red Lobster is one of my favorites. I love their biscuits!!!! They can be a bit pricey, but it's worth it.
