It looks to me to be a celtic or gaelic translation of the emlyn/merddyn combination which is what the "wizard" merlin was known as back then....perhaps your parents think you're magical.......
It might be something different....ask your parents

Maybe she combined 2 names of people she liked . You know, like Bennifer, Brangelina, etc.
