Actually, up until the very late 18th century pink really wasn't considered fashionable for women. Hate to tell you but it was a man's color. The last 200 years have seen an overwhelming change in men's acceptable colors from brights and pastels to more somber subdued tones. The following link goes into some detail of the reasoning behind the shift.

Us ladies got the leftovers -along with the high heels (to keep men's hems free of street filth and sewage) Thanks boys!

It looks better on us, duh!

I think it means something about feminine strength, and decision making as well...

The color pink also has an association with female genitalia. Used as a slang term to refer to female genitalia.

Pink is the color of the Breast Cancer Awareness ribbon. Breast cancer is a leading killer of women, and pink was chosen partially because it is so strongly associated with femininity.

Some feminists have decried the color pink along with dresses and skirts, as something related to the pre-feminism "old-style female", which they view as a symbol of the oppression and limitations of that era. Although this trend persists, the current wave of feminism advocates choice, and many women have sought to reclaim aspects of the old-style female, including pink, as something to be proud of. For example, the Swedish radical feminist party Feminist Initiative uses pink as its colour.

in my opinion, no longer something of what you suggested makes you "female". i love scarves (b/c they save me warmth even as that is freakin' chilly out). i love the shade pink (some colours anyhow), cooking is relaxing!!! the perfect cooks are adult men, and that i'm confident maximum of them are not gay or effeminate. i respect vegetation. i actually wanted to get one for my room yet my mom became like "that is a touch girly" and that i'm like in my ideas, "how precisely is a flower girly? that is a flower. i do not act female and all of this stuff are not any further making absolutely everyone female. All female is, is in basic terms the way human beings attempt to comprehend particular behaviors (although if those behaviors are not inevitably "girly". that is in common words by technique of twist of destiny that perchance more effective women can relate to those behaviors and pastimes so if a boy likes them, they are in many cases "gay" or effeminate. that is a matter of attitude.

Psychologically, pink is a color which drains energy (many tests have substantiated this). So, in order to keep females subjugated they would be dressed in pink. YBIC

Mostly because pink is what you get when you mix red and white. Red is symbolic for blood (and therefore mestruation) while white is symbolic for virginity.

Although sky blue is still considered blue, when used to represent boys (blue and white), red might have been thought too 'adult' and heavy for girls to accept. Also, because pink is a 'lessening' or 'weakening' of red's explosive power and metaphor, while blue remains (however light) still blue, the names also represent symbolic male domination: blue remains blue (primary), red is diluted into pink (secondary).

I agree with technicolorarts' answer; it has everything to do with fashion and society. As for all of you who used a sex organ as your answer, and a weak answer at that, you need to grow up.
