Some republicans are also for this too.

The non-binding resolution, which was also gaining interest from a second key Republican, would symbolically put the Senate on record as saying the U.S. commitment in Iraq "can only be sustained" with popular support among the American public and in Congress.

How does a 'group of Senators' equal the entire Senate?

From that article, there's still no Iraq plan, just a plan to wrest control of the situation from the Executive Branch, which would be struck down as unconstitutional if so challenged in the Supreme Court.

And the key Repub. quoted is running for Pres. At least he's smart enough to distance himself from Bush, because that's politically expedient. Even a first year college student can figure that one out, but you can't see through it,, apparently.

Nowhere in that article does it say what the democrats plan is other that not supporting Bush's plan. The closest it comes is "calls for shifting the mission of U.S. troops from combat to training, counterterrorism and protecting Iraq's territorial integrity."
Well guess what, that's what we are doing now. Great plan dems.

This article doesn't give a plan, it only says Democrats are united against Bush's plan. I have a plan though. Start by pulling out Halliburton (the American civilians) so the Iraqi people can have jobs. Our military won't be spread so thin, and fewer Iraqi's will be willing to pick up guns.

This article, it says nothing as to a plan. All along Bush has sought support from other countries, including in the region, and has told the Iraqi government they need to step up. So what was the new "plan" you referrence? All I have heard it to redeploy, cap the troops, threaten the Iraqi governent and get out.

Dems do not have a plan except to divide America along racial, economic and educational status. their plan is the same as it has been since Karl Marx invented it....class warfare.

There is something you must remember, and please watch for this over the next month, year etc.
Everyone in the media have a liberal bias.
They will never report the good republicans are doing. NEVER.
So the republican party all ways looks bad on the news and that feedback gets back to people who do not know much about politics.

"Republican Rep. Chris Shays — who scraped by in the November elections while his GOP Connecticut colleagues Rob Simmons and Nancy Johnson lost their seats — said his vote would depend on what Democrats come up with." - Right out of the story you linked to.

Opposing what has been put out there and coming up with a plan of their own are two entirely different things.

No because the democrats have no plan, so we will ride your a*s now cause you are controlling the show. Get a plan that will work and maybe we'll shut up.

Okay we admit it.

The Dems have always had a plan to ruin the economy and relinquish our sovereignty to the international body.

There are you satisfied?
