I don't understand these weirdos. They see what it's costing them: family, time in jail, friend as well as self-esteem, but they stay that way. How do they rationalize it?

Narcissists don't rationalize their behavior. No one with a psychological disorder can rationalize their behavior, that's why they are marked as having a psychological disorder.

I don't think there is a paticular cause to make someone like that if anything from what I have seen in the people that are like that is they just don't give a sh!t if they do things to hurt other people and all I think it is, is they seem to do anything to get ahead and to make themselves feel better and make themselves look good and they just don't care if it hurts anyone else and yes those kind of people hurt other people and make me angry but I just keep reminding myself that those people like Ken Lay with Enron are going to have to face the big man someday when they pass away instead of facing some judge in a court room.

Personally, I think it's a mental health issue; some people are wired differently and actually can't "see" that who they are and what they do affects anyone else but them self. Trying to get them to see a psychiatrist is probably futile; However, if it affects enough people adversely (emotionally and physically), you may want to have them committed to a facility for a while; medication and counseling may help!
