If you really have a passion for playing for this particular team, suck it up and try out. Maybe the guy has a crappy personality but is a good coach.

If you already have a poor relationship with him, and you'll be miserable, play something else.

If you don't know the guy is a turd from personal experience, try out for the team and find out for yourself. Don't rely on other people's views. He may be a dick becasue he's hard on players, and pushes them to be better.

Motivation comes in many forms...

How do you know the coach is a dick if you don't even play for him yet. Take a look around , Does he have a bunch of smart alec kids to deal with? Does he have a bunch of guys that don't wanna hussle and give it their all? These kinds of things can make a good coach act and seem like a dick when he really isn't. Some times you have to walk a mile in a mans shoes to understand why he is the way he is. As far as trying out for his team , if you go into it with the attitude like you have toward him it's probably not a good idea. If it is possible to try out for a different team I would recommend that. But if you can't try out for a different team and you really wanna play baseball I would say set your feelings aside and go for it. You may find out that the coach ain't such a bad guy after all. And if he really is a dick you can use that as motivation. Work hard , play hard and have a good time.

I played baseball for a long time... In all my years I only really liked 1 coach... If I stopped after the first coach that could be compared to a male member , I would not have had such a rich life of baseball experiences... Now GET YOUR *** ON THE FIELD...

yeah go for it. I had a dick coach all through my highschool career. I loved baseball so much that I didnt care. It took me until my senior year to realize to just ignore everything he said, it turned out to be my best season. You just gotta always remember that you can quit once you make the team if things aren't going well, but you can't go back in time and try out later on when you regret not playing.

If your coach quits you might get a great coach for your team and you'll be sorry you never tried out for the team. 75% chance coaches that are ***** quit!!!

Definately, yes. Just keep your mouth shut, and play hard and do your best. At that point once the season is over with you can try out for another team who has a better coach than what you currently do have

Well most coaches are but if you can explain what his way of coaching baseball is then you will be able to determine. Like he makes his players run when they make a mistake instead of explaining to them what to do next time then no.
