Cyprus Independence Day - 1st October (The actual date is the 16th of August but for some reason we celebrate it in October)
28th October is a public Holiday (The day Greeks said no to the Germans)
25th March (the day the Greek revolution started against the Turks in 1821)
1 April (The day the revolution started against the British in 1955)
Easter Holidays (Orthodox Easter)
this year Easter Sunday will be on the 8th April, so public services will be closed from 5th-10th. Schools though, close for two weeks, from the 31/3 - 15/4.
Green Monday (Lent) 50 days before Easter, so It would be 10/02 this year
Labor Day - 1 May
Pentecost - 28th May (feel free to throw a bucket of water to anyone at that day )
Day the Virgin Mary slept - 15th August (14-16 of August has to be the busiest days of the year for Paphos, everybody goes there - Nicosia is practically empty then)
Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year's Day
Epiphany - 6th January
I really can't recall any laws that are different from other countries..
Vehicles.. Well more or less anything. Many Toyota, Pegeuot, Ford, Volkswagen, Mitsubishi, Mercedes (most taxis are Mercedes.. I would say 90% of them at least).. These are the more common ones but you can find ANY car (Porsche. Jaguar, BMW, Rolls-Royce etc) - We drive on the left site, steering wheel is on right site.
Speed : City 50kph/30mph, Open Roads 62mph/100kph (though they won't stop you unless you are over 115kph
I have no idea how many newspapers are sold per day, but most households buy more than one.

You have already taken all the information you need!! I will just complete that if you ever visit Cyprus, you will enjoy delicious cypriot food. Be prepared that you will get some kilos on :) Don't forget to try halloumi (a kind of cheese)!
As for the Cypriots, they are very hospitable, friendly and kind people! You will love them!
