Frankly, the lot of them is about as effective as a cup of hot tea with a teaspoonful of sugar and another of whiskey stirred in. So says a recent series of intensive studies by, among others, the National Institutes of Health. So, save your money. The "enhanced" cup of tea I described is a heck of a lot cheaper and tastes way better! And I'm the guy with the forty years of clinical practice...been treating colds all that time.

Over the counter Muccinex DM is very effective. It used to be with prescription only but last year they made it available over the counter it is the only thing I use. If your symptoms worsen you might have an infection that requires antibiotics then you need to consult your Doctor.

Cold-Eeze citrus drops and Zycam are the best. I've got a cold right now, and coldeze is helping a lot. Also swab hydrogen peroxide in your nose. It burns something awful but it helps clear out all that phlegm.

I've had good results from both Thera-Flu and Alka Seltzer Cold. The Thera-Flu is especially good if you also have a sore throat because you drink it warm like tea, doesn't taste as good as tea, but if it tasted that good it probably wouldn't work! LOL

Hope you feel better!

Zicam - it's the best, it will get you over the cold twice as fast. I prefer the nose swabs. The mists and chewables leave a nasty aftertaste in your mouth for a long time.
