Who was the first Japanese woman novelist?

I read a book once that claimed to be an historical novel. It was about a geisha in the 15th or 16th century who wrote stories. I can't remember the title of the book or the author. Please help.

In the year 1007 a Japanese noble woman, Murasaki Shikibu, wrote the world's first full novel. Called "The tale of Genji," it tells the story of a prince looking for love and wisdom.
