Have not got the owners manual so do not know where to look to try and fix myself, anyone with any helpful hints please. Also the wipers keep going on the blink, any easy fixes or is it a new unit.

Thanks for all the great answers, the problem is I don't have the owners manual for the car so I don't know which the fuse is for the fan blower. I did have a quick check of the fuse board under the steering wheel but could not see any broken fuses, I ahve not found any fuses in the engine bay yet. The year of the car is a T plate 1999, I am trying to source a manual at the moment, do any of you know which number the fuse it is and is it in beneath the steering wheel or in the engine bay. Some of your answers are very good but they do need me to technically minded which I am not, I am unable to do anything other than check fuses. Though I am quite bright and I am able to follow instructions and give anything a go.
Thanks for your help so far and keep it coming.

Check the fuses? If fuses good you may have defective wiring causing. Check continuity of wiring from fuse box to fan. If wires good, then you probably have a defective fan motor.

Sounds like yo may have an electrical short. Check your fuse, see if you have electric currant going to the unit first. What year is your Galaxy, the older they are the easeyer they are.

May be coincidence but the two incidents are probably related, try chaning the fuse on the fan circuit first

check the fuses,if good, then its a replacement unit, wiper motor is cheap and easy to fix, heater motor is a little more involved, but easy to get to under the dash

get a VOM $10 at microcenter, a little more at radio shack

unplug the d amn thing, whatever it is, power there?

if so get a new fan thingy

if not maybe a fuse or wiring issue

if it gets complex check the wiring diagram

what i would check first on it would be the blower motor resistor,it mounts on the heater box.and when these go out it knocks the motor out ,all this device does is help control the speed of the heater motor ,but when it goes out you loose all speeds of it,it should either be located in under the glove box area or on the outer part of the heater box ,if you,ll purchase a good repair manual on this truck it will help you a lot ,good luck with it.
