ive had no expierience, but i researched banshees for a long time, and i believe in them very much.i believe my family has a banshee--"There is no harm or evil in her mere presence, unless she is seen in the act of crying; but this is a fatal sign. The wail of a banshee pierces the night, it's notes rising and falling like the waves of the sea, it always announces a mortal's death. She is solitary woman fairy, mourning and forewarning those only of the best families in Ireland, those with most ancient Celtic lineages. Those whose names begin with 'Mac/Mc' or 'O', whose origin dates from the time of the Irish heroes. The banshee loves the old mortal families with a fierce and unearthly caring." my familys name is o'dea.and more from the page is, that your familys banshee never leaves you. even if you leave ireland and go to america,or somewhere else. as my ancestors did.and it also says that even if your family name changes, she will still be there,as mine did. my family name was o'dea but it changed to day.

Sylvia Brown's latest book, Phenomena, has a chapter on Banshees. She heard one while on vacation in Ireland.

If memory serves, they are supposedly apparitions that announce someones death.

She posits that the unique quality of the atmosphere and fog in Ireland amplifies the sound vibration that a soul makes when departing the body at death.

I don't recall any particular surname having special privileges.

She also saw a fairy while there.
Works for me.

I woke up when I was five years old.terrified to death?there is a greenish light in the bedroom.I shared with my older brother, I didn't wont to look over, I did,and theres some little demons flying around his bed,one looked over at me. I will never forget those evil evil eyes. I screamed but no sound came out, I put my head down the greenish light went away. I could feel they had left and told my mother about it. she said it was a dream.NO IT WAS NOT A DREAM.so that's what you call them .,my grandmother was sick and dies after that experience.& my dog got run over.and my brother once told me years later that he was afraid to die because he thought he was going to go to hell..Banshee's.maybe.I dont know what you actually call them or what they really were..I just know what I saw,but I never was afraid after that of much of anything. for some reason..you would think I would have been afraid after that of them, that maybe they would come back. but I didnt give them much thought at all.but I can still see in my minds eye those evil eyes. when he looked over at me.so I know theres things out there.that we dont know about. Good luck and best wish's

Many soul stealing dreams about the banshee. I awake with a hollow feeling or screeming like a banshee does and my family wakes me up!

I came home very drunk one night and there was a banshee screaming and wailing about impending death (and it sounded like it was mine).

When I sobered up, I realized it was my wife!!
