Good God no!!!
Who knows an area's educational needs better: a school board member elected by his/her neighbors, or a bureaucrat esconced in his office in Washington?
Education is a state issue...there shouldn't even be a federal Dep't of Education, in my opinion.

No, no and no! How many programs have we seen the federal government screw up and you want to give them the power to screw up education. I realize our educational systems has problems, but the people in Washington have no idea what problems states and cities face on a daily basis. I would not want some rich senator or representative telling me what was best for my child. And, by the way, allowing the federal government control of education would not create an equal education for everyone. Just like all other federal programs, the corruption would be terrible!

No. Schooling should become even more localized than it is because who knows better about good education than locals.
I would agree that if local taxes can't come up with enough money for a basic education then the federal government could kick in what's needed.

IMO keep it at a state level and just set a minimal federal standard.. that way you know kids are getting at least the basics .. but still have the states regulate the programs.. keep the feds out of education as much as possible.

Have you ever noticed the knack the federal government has for screwing things up beyond repair? We already have a program in place, it's called the no child left behind debacle. It has no bearing on is our children learning, it's a way for schools to collect federal monies, period. Is our President learning is the more relevant question.

HELL NO!!!!! I don't want some bureaucrat from Iowa telling me how to educate the people of South Carolina. It does not mean that every child will be equal. All you want to do is to expand the bureaucracy to meet the needs of an already existing bureaucracy.

The federal government has proven itself incompetent in attempting to run any program on a national level. If anything it should stay out of it completely.

not everyone learns the same. i think there should be an
oversee-er in the class sometimes to make sure they weren't talkin about Jesus. hidden cameras would work good. computers could then analyze each word and find inappropriate ones from a list(the technology exists already)
