Here are the top 50 baby names of 2006. Try picking one NOT on the list....the world doesn't need any more Madisons or Madysons or any other "cool and unique" way to spell that stupid name.

What if you used Claire and Blaire as the middle name. Or pick names that start with the same letter but don't necessarily rhyme. Or for a really unique idea you could give both girls the same middle name. Like Rhonda Kathleen & Rachael Kathleen. You could call them Roni & Rae for short or they could use their longer more sophisticated names.

Here are some names that everyone under the sun named their girls last year.

1 Emma 2 Madison 3 Ava 4 Emily 5 Isabella 6 Kaitlyn 7 Sophia
8 Olivia 9 Abigail 10 Hailey 11 Hannah 12 Sarah 13 Madeline
14 Lily 15 Ella 16 Alyssa 17 Riley 18 Chloe19 Lauren20 Grace
21 Kaylee 22 Samantha 23 Brianna 24 Mia 25 Alexis 26 Addison
27 Mackenzie 28 Natalie 29 Taylor30 Zoe 31 Sydney 32 Anna
33 Elizabeth 34 Isabelle 35 Avery 36 Maya 37 Savannah
38 Makayla 39 Kayla 40 Julia 41 Megan 42 Morgan 43 Jasmine
44 Katherine 45 Ashley 46 Allison 47 Kylie 48 Arianna 49 Jordan
50 Keira

YIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!! Better put Brooklyn on the list of 2007 most popular. Tons of people here think it's just sooooo cool!

Too rhymy. Children are individuals even if they are formed in the womb on the same day, born on the same day, and have the same features as their sibling. Let them be individuals, they are not a set like a fork and a spoon. Mary-Kate and Ashley look practically identical but they have different names, are getting to be famous for different things (which one has bulimia?), and color their hair differently so they can be INDIVIDUALS.

Claire and Blaire are fine names by themselves but it sounds like they'll be sitting in a tree with Pete and Repeat. What other names do you like? Maybe use Blaire as one twin's middle name, that could be cute. Claire Marie Blank and Emily Blaire Blank. Then the rhyme would still be there without being over the top and embarassing for your girls. Check out babynamesworld.com- it is awesome!

1. Kate and Kristen
2.Tamera and Tammy
3. Carrie and Christa
Claire and Blaire are pretty names. There's nothing wrong with names that rhyme but since they are twins you could make names like number 1,2, and 3. (Make the first letter of each name start the same) = )

First of all Congrats! Give them unique names so it can help define their identity, both the girls and all future acquaintances will thank you. Choose same initial names (such as Sarah and Sonia, Claire and Cadence, or Blaire and Bridgette) or names that go together (for example my twin aunts are named Rose and Sharon after the Rose of Sharon bush), or you can be completely creative and just choose your two favorite names.

I wouldn't do names that sound alike or start with the same letter. Your babies will eventually grow up and want their own identity. They're not going to want a name similar to their sister's name. If it was me, I would give them names that are completely different from each other. Here are some examples:

Lydia Grace and Tiana Leah
Shanley Marie and Gabriella Chantel
Talia May and Abbie Danielle

That's just kind of some ideas. The names don't start with the same letter and they don't rhyme. If it was me, I wouldn't pick two completely different names.

I have twins and I gave them very different names. Remember that even though they are twins, they are individuals as well. People are always inclined to refer to them as one. "The twins" or as I even catch myself doing "The boys" or "The girls".
Here is a great suggestion when choosing names:
1) Imagine yourself standing on your porch calling them in for dinner, what does it sound like?
2) This can happen, so just imagine, your child is now 30 and overweight, will their name still suit them?
3) They want to run for President.

If I had girls I would name them Madison & Samatha. Great short names. I always try and pick a good formal name that has a good short verison.
Good luck!

I think that the rhyming names is how I would name puppies from the same litter but not children. I am not a twin but imagine that just as nice as it is to have someone to share with from the very beginning it is equally as difficult to discover your own individuality. I believe that it would be important for them to have very different names and that they shouldn't be chosen until they are born and you can see a little bit of their personality.

I would probably choose middle names with the same theme though such as April and May or two Chirstmas names like Holly and Noel or two of my favorite (too bad they were used on a TV show) Hope and Faith. If you are a fan of something then maybe choose names from that such as if you like to read books then pick the names of two of your favorite writers or how about using a name from each grandmother or if you are going to have seperate god parents for them how about using part of their names.

Twins :) ... congratulations!!!

I had twin aunts named Jean and Joan. I like Claire but not fond of Blaire. Sounds like a soap opra name.

Be careful, the children will have to live with them, not you.
Why not the old standards? I would like to think that one or both of them could grow up to be president or a brainsurgeon. And, truthfully do you want a president named Brianna? I know you did not say that, but doesn't Blaire sound adrogenous?
