I can understand someone "wanting" to marry but why did you say you "need" to marry him? Are you pregnant? Are you trying to get away from home? No one on the face of this earth NEEDS to marry anyone and a marriage based on pressure is doomed to fail. You leave too mcuh information out of your question but - if you simply WANT to marry this guy, then start dropping some hints like " wow, wouldn't it be great to be together forever?" and see his reaction. If he heads for the door or suddenly gets ill, you've got your answer.

By all means, yes. Don't "propose" marriage or anything - but bring up the subject of future relationship plans, and see where the conversation goes. You'll be able to find out pretty quickly if he's even open to the idea.
