if the doctor didn't say anything about it then no, he's not overweight....dont' listen to what other people tell you re: weight...they're not doctors and they are not your child's doctor and different factors work into each child's height/weight....do NOT be concerned over comments that other people say because everyone will have a comment.

If the doctor is alright with it, then go by that! Don't listen to everyone who crosses your path dishing out "advice". My son is 9 mths old and he weighs 25.5 lbs, he is also almost 2.5 ft tall. He is just a big boy. My boy was 8 lbs 10.9 oz at birth. When your son starts to really start crawling, cruising, or walking he'll lose the weight. My boy was 23 lbs at 6 mths, so since he has started moving more, he is levelling off in his weight.
Seriously don't worry too much about it. My doctor told me to only start worrying if he is really overweight after he's a year old. Then he said he could schedule nutritionist appointments, but as of last weeks' appointment, he was happy with my son's weight!

Honey my son was a month premature and is now 8 months old and is 20 pounds. Dont you dare stop feeding that baby who only knows to eat when he is hungry. Who cares what other people think and if he weighed less people would be commenting on that. My son is 20 pounds and soild he is not fat does not look like most babies that are cute little cubby babies he is solid. If the Dr hasnt mentioned nothing there should be no concern. When I took my son in for his 4 month check up I was worried because he weighed 14pounds my Dr told me not to worry his daughter was 24 pounds at 24 weeks of age {6months} and she is just fine now.

My 8 1/2 month old is 20 pounds even and 29 inches. Please do not worry how weight, especially if his pediatrician is not concerned. My boy was 9 pounds 3 ounces at birth. It is not likely to be what you feed him at this age. Mine has multiple food allergies so gets very little in the way of solids. He is still exclusively breastfed, except for a few bites of rice in the mornings and one good meal in the evenings. If YOU are concerned about his weight ask his pediatrician about it, or check out a height to weight chart NOT JUST WEIGHT. My boy is off both height and weight charts BUT on thee height to weight he is right above the 50th percentile. I can't find the link I use, but you can google it fairly easily. Please don't listen to people that tell you to limit his diet. Babies rarely overeat.

every baby is different
some heavier than others
i wouldnt worry to much bout his weight this young as long as your feeding him regulary and healthily
my grandaughter and friends baby were both over 9lb at birth both are about the 9 months old mark and both weigh over 21 pounds but neither baby is fat and overweight but healthy little monsters into everything
you should spent this precious time with him enjoying him and not worring bout what other people think and say.
as the doctor hasnt expressed any concerns about his weight i wouldnt worry but if you are worried bout his weight ask your health visitor or doctor for advice

I would be more concerned if he wasn't 20 lbs. I read somewhere that babies double their birthweight in the first 4-6 months. He's a big boy, good for you. Relax and enjoy him. I hope my son is close to 20 lbs by 6 months. he was 8 lb 10 oz 22 inches at birth. He is 6.5 weeks and about 12 lbs now

Your son is definitly NOT overweight. My son is 7 1/2months weighs 25lbs and is 30". He was 24lbs at 6 months, was 9lbs 10oz at birth and 21 1/2". As long as your doctor isn't worried, then you shouldn't be, keep doing what you're doing it sounds like you're doing a great job!

I had 2 very large children (10 lbs and 9 lbs). They were huge for about 9 months and then they tapered off to be average by 12 months. Just feed him healthy baby food (not McDonald's fries, not candy, not soda, not juice with sugar) and he will be fine. Listen to your doctor.
A large baby is sometimes connected with the mother's diabetic condition.

Ignore everyone else. If you dr thinks he is fine then he is just fine. My son is only 5 mos old and he weighs almost 19 lbs and is nearly 27 inches long and my doc is not concerned in the least. He is in the 97th percentile in all growth areas. sometimes we just have big babies.

I dont think he's overweight because my daughter was 7lbs 9oz when she was born and now she is 3 months old and weighs 14lbs. Your son is 8 months old and weighs 20lbs, that sounds about average. My daughter will probably weigh around the same thing.
