When someone is negative about something I feel positive about, I don't let their opinions change my feelings about a situation. Instead, I just accept that they have a different view point and leave it at that. Sometimes I think that people who are negative and always put other ideas down, probably have some subconscious problem that they haven't dealt with yet. That negative energy they cary will come out of them one way or another until they deal with it. Long story short: If they're knocking my ideas down they; one- just have a different view point but that doesn't have to affect me or two- they have issues they need to deal with and again that shouldn't be aloud to affect me. Just leave out the nativities, and focus on your positive feelings and go with it!

Well, I have found you need to cultivate a new attitude... the best way to do that is to model your behaviour on that of a dog. I know, I know it sounds silly, but dogs have an incredibly optimistic attitude despite repeated hardship and suffering. That is because a dog is oblivious to any kind of insult, you can tell a dog they are stupid or ugly as much as you want and they dont even know what you are talking about... it goes right over their head and has no effect... if you can achieve that by ignoring anyone or anything that shoots you down, utterly and completely you achieve a sort of invincibility that nothing can shatter. By realizing that you can also rise above that sort of thing and ignore it, you can set yourself free and build your confidence. A dog no matter how abused still loves the abuser, a dog no matter how crippled or deformed still loves life, a dog no matter what any other dog or human may think still loves themselves and their life. Do that and your confidence will be indestructible... all you have to do is realize that your image of yourself should not rely on the views of others, but instead lies in your ability to rise above the petty cruelty of the world.... Nothing can ever knock you down if you let it pass right over you instead of taking it to heart.

Same thing I'm going through, its really tough but try and think positive about yourself. Think of the good qualities you have and try and improve your other qualities that need a little help. I have been doing counselling for a few weeks its really boosted my confidence but this is not a matter that can be changed over night. I talk to this lady and my feelings and she sits and listens and gives advice. It's just a matter of retraining your brain to think differently. Try to keep your chin up :) if you want any other advice email me :) and good luck

I've been knocked down many many times over the years, and to get back up I've used "inspirational and motivational words to live by" by people like Dale Carnegie, Og Mandino, etc. http://www.mindperk.com/CarnegieBio.htm
Initially I attended secretarial seminars paid by the companies I worked for, and then began reading on my own.

You could always ask five people who are close to you to each name one of your personal strengths (the reason they like you). Then whenever you are down, look at these five strengths, and you will know that these five people value you. This should boost your confidence to work through whatever comes at you.
