I have the Mirena. I had more spotting then not for the first few months. I suffered from heavy periods before getting it. I have to say the light spotting was much better then the heavy periods. Now after having it for over 6 months I have less spotting.

Good luck!

Oh, man....why do people believe that inserting a foreign object INTO an organ that's already bleeding will help stop this? All it does is irritate that organ further!

The theory behind Mirena is that the hormones embedded in it will eventually lighten and/or stop your period; however, many women complain of irregular and even constant bleeding for up to 6 months after insertion.

My recommendation would be to have that contraption removed (the body isn't meant to have stuff in it that it wasn't born with!), and start taking a pill, such as LoEstrin or Yaz. Stay away from the tri-phasics such as Orto Tri-Cyclin or Ortho777.
