When you get a star it nominates your question to be on the main page.

This is what Yahoo says about it...
"Starring questions lets the Answers community surface the best questions on the site. When a question is starred, it is automatically nominated to appear in the new “Popular” list on the front page of Answers "

No I don't think so..the star system will not change anything
