Engine light - 2002 Toyota Camry?

Question

Light has been on for four days. I took it to the local Toyota dealer. The code reader came up as the Fuel/Air sensor (same as O2 sensor I assume). The mechanic didn't seem to worried about it, reset it and said to drive it for a while. An hour later the light comes back on. Should I be spending the 150.00 or more to get the sensor changed when the car seems to be running just fine. Thanks in advance.

Get is fixed! you could be doing damage to the cat. converter because the sensor may be reading inaccurate (it usually is or the light does not come on) and causing the car to run rich. O2 sensors are not something that a dealer will usually just "reset" the light for because that light is only designed to come on when an emissions failure occurs!

Before you do anything check the gas cap.

This happened to me in my Matrix a couple of months ago. If the gas cap isn't on tight enough the check engine light will come on. I had to tighten mine a little bit ( several clicks) and it took two days for the light to go off, but it did and it's never come back.

You are very lucky that you had an honest mechanic. Some of them will charge all kinds of $$ for this sort of thing.

It's not often that a mechanic says, "Don't fix this yet," so that's kind of weird and noteworthy.

I'd change it. If the light stays on when there's no problem, when there is a problem you might not notice until it's too late.
