There are so many options available, all screaming that they are the best product. But are they the best for YOUR skin. A product that works great on someone else may not work as great on you.

My method. I wash my face everyday with Equate cream cleanser followed by an apricot scrub. Once a week I'll use a harsher (sugar and honey) scrub to really slough off the dry dead skin. After that's done I rinse my face with cold water and apply a moisturizer to the dry areas. I don't really have breakouts, maybe 2 or 3 small pimples a month. Then again...I have dry skin to begin with. The dryer your skin, the less acne you will have. My father is the same way. I don't think he's had a pimple in his life.

So you have to try different things or find someone with the same skin as you and see if their method will work on you. If your skin is pale this has nothing at all to do with how much acne you will have. And if you have acne along with dry skin, then you need to exfoliate. If it's sensitive keep it to 1-3 times a week, not everyday. Dead skin cells are one of the main causes for acne and if you're not getting rid of these, they'll buildup and cause you acne. If you have oily skin, then you need to wash twice a day and use products that are oil free. Again, the exfoliating depends onhow sensitive your skin is. The more it is, the less you need to do it.

Fyi, I have known people that used ProActive and it made their face much worse, with even more acne along with drying their skin out badly.

I honestly find the simple methods, the most effective. Get a decent face wash, one that works well with your skin. Figure out what skin type you have and go from there. Wash morning and night, without fail and always remove all traces of makeup if you wear any. Get a moisturiser for day, and a night cream. Moisturise your face morning and night after cleansing. Exfoliate once a week but be gentle. Face mask once a week to a fortnight. And to use directly on spots, antibacterial creams such as sudocrem, savlon or germaline work great on spots. A dab of perfume on them (as long as the spot is not open ie from picking *dont pick!*) on the spot will also help dry it up, make it smaller and reduce redness without drying the skin around it. Just dont use much. I personally find acne treatments are far too harsh on the skin. It may get rid of acne, but your skin gets so so dry, and sometimes acne treatments have left my spots even more inflamed. It must just depend on the skin type.

That Pro Activ junk is a JOKE!!!!! I tried it for 2 years. Made my acne worse. I know use Acne Free. It doesnt dry your skin out like Pro Activ. It is way less expensive. It takes 4 days until you see results. Unlike Pro Activ it takes months. Acne Free also has a product called Terminator. It helps get rid of zits better. I highly sugeest Acne Free. Give it a try. You will be happy with the results

advance solutions from neutrogena acne peel use this 2-3 times a week, then use the advance solutions cleaner and night time cream ifyou wear makeup (this is a 3 piece kit) mix the lotion with your foundation, then proactive 2 things, 1 the toner best, 2nd is the deep cleans Not part of the kit but you can buy these separtate and the deep cleans is a elfolate you use daily then clean with the advance solution then dry face use proactive toner then fallow through at night with the advance solution night time cream day with the advance lotion.

sounds like a lot, but the nutrogena kit cost 19$ last 2 months the acne peel from nutragena cost about 12-14 last 2-3 months
proactive toner and the deep cleaner toner will be 10 and the deep cleaner is about 15-18 but will last 2-3 months

sounds like a lot but will do the job and drink water

If you are a woman your acne could be caused by hormonal factors. Mine is....none of the products out there really did any good until I had my doctor test my androgen levels. When it was discovered they were too high, I was prescribed a hormonal treatment for acne that helped tremendously. Ask your dr. about dianette/diane35 or Yasmine

I have combination skin and I have just started using Proactiv (about three weeks ago) and I can already see my skin starting to clear up. Though as a warning, Proactiv does take a lot of dedication but I think any approach would take time and effort. An added plus to the Proactiv system is that my skin is softer than ever!

Honestly the best treatment is eating healthy, drinking plenty of water and washing your face with DOVE soap...they have various Dove soaps...for dry skin, oily skin and acne prone skin...Dove is the most gentle and clean product....Im sorry for the people who said ProActive...Proactive is not IS NOT for everybody...it didnt work for me..I seriously think its for people with SEVERE case of acne....if you have combinational skin or sensitive skin or even dry skin I guarantee Proactive will not work for you....
