I have an RCA rear projection that I bought about 41/2 years ago (When LCD's and Plasmas were like $15,000). I am concerned that playing Xbox games will ruin the TV. Keep in mind that the Xbox arcade games have "still" backrounds.

I'm in the same boat as you--it's actually my g-parents' tv they got back when plasmas were like the same cost as a new BMW.
Anyway I play 360 on it and it is gorgeous. Everything works great, no problems. Seriously dude--it's so nice playing on this rather than a 29 inch. And no it doesn't ruin anything--been playing since October with my 360 (and I'm a heavy gamer--I'll have my 360 on for 8+ hours a day) and it's working great. Games, media player, all those things work great. I thought the media player visualization might mess with things, but it looks fantastic.
