Oh - I love Leyland Cypress! And have some [knock on wood...].
Unfortunately, these trees were discontinued being sold by many nurseries several years ago because they were/are being killed [disproportionately] by disease. I am not sure whether this is a geographic conern or not, and do not know where you live. But this is the case here in SE GA, and I drive around seeing many substantially-sized trees, dead. [sorry]
Check with your local Cooperative Extension Service. They will have updated information on this species. I hope your Leylands do okay - ThRiVe!

Too much water. In the spring, I'd add some slow-release fertilizer, such as Osmocote 18-6-12. If the trees are recently planted, you need to make sure they are not too deep or in an area that water ponds. Leyland cypress DO NOT like wet feet.

leyland are still being sold here in tennessee you might try liquid fertizler and do not put thr pellet on them as it can touch the green part of the plant and burn it up we use a lot of this in the nurseries here liquid will not burn the green part of the plant

Not enough iron. Get some pelletized iron and feed them per instuction. Some Holly-tone would also be a good idea.
