My old computer decided to freak out and break down. Now it only starts in safe mode and when I run all the diagnostic programs and restart it my monitor is blank. I can hear it start up again and everything is fine but it just won't show on my monitor. And yes, I have tried using a different monitor (I have two PC's). So I have broken down and purchased a new PC to replace my old faithfull. But how can I get my all my information/data onto my new PC? Should I just take it to a shop?

Two options:

1) buy a USB flash drive, or USB mini-hard drive. Copy
from one in safe mode, then plug it into the new one and
copy to the new disk.

2) If you are at all mechanical, your new PC has open slots,
power cables, and data cables for a second hard drive. You
can simply turn off both machines, take the hard disk out of
your old one, install it in the new one, boot, and the disk will
be there with all your data on it.

This second option is what I do. I always keep all my data and
downloads on a separate harddrive. I make copies of my data
drive back onto my system drive. This way, if one crashes,
I always have a healthy drive with all my data on it. Its really
not hard to do ... email for more.

If you can get the old PC to run in the safe mode, that is good enough to copy files to a flash drive, floppy disk but maybe not burn to a CD. If you don't have a floppy drive, you can purchase an external one that just plugs into a USB port.

way too easy. Simply hook up your hard drive as a slave to your new computer. You can delete all the windows folders etc when you open it and say the documents you want. Or by a external bay and put the hard drive in that.

If you are in safe mode no biggie.

Put your drive as slave on the new pc.

I would create a folder and place files in there and then copy.

I keep a copy of all of my downloaded files on a dvd just in case.

No, the suggestion is on the slave rigidity as a compressed disk photograph and heavily isn't seen by using the computer boot technique.... you will likely % to get the device botted to achieve this. I beleive norton has a boot disk to coach mutually as restoring pictures...

personally i would take it out of the old one and hook it up to your new computer as a slave. if you don't know how you should just get someone who does to help you. it's pretty easy.
