I am looking to travel with my child aged of 5 yrs of age and was wondering if my child can get the Hepatitis A & B before traveling out of the country. My child's health and safety are number one and don't want to risk him to anything as well the children at his school. I will choose not to travel if not protected somehow especially with today's terrible list of illness.

Serious replies only, I would appreciate, thank you.

Obviously some people are not aware that it cost money to have travel consultations/advice. I am just looking for a quick question to be responded to with heart not a fee clinging to it since life is already very expensive. We can not have family meetings either, my child is only 5 yrs old as mentioned and this is not a matter to discuss with children. As for the family doctor, I have asked him several times but same... I will need a consultation, expert advice which I really can't afford since the trip is already costing me so much... shots, passports, trip and etc... We have saved for a couple of years. I would appreciate some honest advice from someone that already been in my situation and know what to do. If it comes to it, I will prospone the trip until I get the proper advice. We are well deserving of this trip/vacation and if we can’t go now we can wait until we are informed and worry free. Thanks!

Some people are getting the wrong idea too. I am not overprotective, I am just like any mother that is concerned and wanting to be worry free on a trip. I am aware of all this illnesses but if I can provent it I will take what is needed/procautions. I was only asking if yes or no if ther any age limitations on the H. shots. That is all.

He can not get aids from sitting on the toilet.

However, he COULD get hepatitis from playmates, or more likely, through eating out.

What country are you traveling to? Your doctor should be able to advise you, but if you'd like an external resource, go to www.cdc.gov/travel/ There you will find everything you want to know and some you don't. This is part of the Center for Disease Control website.

I don't think you need to worry so much unless you are traveling to a really undeveloped part of the world. Drink bottled water, don't use ice, peel all fresh fruits and veggies, just the normal precautions should be plenty. So go enjoy your trip!

We travel a lot and we got all the shots for our child at a young age. It also really depends on where you go and then what shots you need. You definetely will have to talk to your pediatrician.
Hepatitis A & B my child had at a young age. Don't forget that for some some shots you have to go back after 1/2 year to get a booster shot.

not sure what the age limits on this are, just call the pediatrician. They may have had similar issues in the past. they'll know exactly what to do and what you should prepare for.

If your child needs any special medicine or things of that nature, make sure to pack them along, don't think you'll get the same stuff outside this country.

Books are nice and they make thinks so fun and romantic but reality is much different, something could easily happen to you. You're going to a place where you know no one and probably don't know the language. It's going to scary. Why not wait until you have someone who can go with you? I wouldn't let my seventeen year old go, just wait the extra year.

Just get him all his shots. Your kid can Hep on the playground from another child. So how about you just lock him in the house forever?

Terrible illness is all around us dear, we can only take precautions, we can't not do the things we want because of them.

I mean he can get AID's sitting on a toilet or some nasty disease from touching a door handle, it's all the same.

1 suggestion, your a good mom but don't be so over protective, my mom was this way and it winds up hurting him in the long run. I was able to bust of my shell. But it really is a bad thing. You can only protect them so much, you can't live in fear thats something will happen.

And call your Pediatrician. They can help you.

It depends on where you are traveling on what shots you need. Each place is different and has different issues. Check online about what place you are going to and what is recommended. Talk to your doctor about the shots as well. I'm not sure which hep. vaccine my daughter got, but one type was required when she was a baby.

Gee, I'm so sorry for all the uncouth and brassy replies you received. I felt at first glance I thought I may be able to answer you question but on reading it in its entirity I realised I was unable to as we've never left the country with our littlies.

Anyways, it appears you finally received a response from somebody with some relevant knowledge.

Good Luck

Cheers

Everytime your child steps outside or even goes to school they are capable of getting anything. If you do travel with your child make sure you bring cold medicine, blankets, and maybe some music that your child enjoys. Just make sure if your child gets into something unusual or anything on the ground wash his/her hands and use antibacterial soap.

you should be able to go to the family doctor. The family doctor should be able to tell you this information more clearly than just regular or random people.

if they haven't already had the shot or it's about time for them to take it again the doctor will be able to tell you.

Why would you ask Yahoo answers? Dont you think a doctor would be a better person to ask?
