Homely Girl - Chi Lites
It must have broke
Your poor little heart
When the boys used to say
You look better in the dark
Oh, but now they'd give
All they learned in school
To be somewhere
In the dark with you
Oh, yes, they would
You know the teacher
Would ask a question
And you would always
Raise your hand
Oh, but somehow
You never got your turn and
My eyes would fill with water
Inside, I burned
Oh, yes, I did
Homely girl
She was so homely
You're a beautiful woman
Oh, yeah (homely girl)
Homely girl
Used to be lonely
You're a beautiful woman
Oh, yeah
There was a boy
Who used to sit beside you
Who liked to hold that place
His whole life through
Oh, you were beautiful to me
You had a heart
No one could ever see
Oh, yes, you did
I was the only one who
Offered to carry your books
Took all the stares and laughter
With the dirty looks
But I saw then
What they see now
They all wanna ask you for a date
They don't know how
They don't know how
Homely girl
She was so homely
You're a beautiful woman
Oh, yeah (homely girl)
Homely girl
Used to be lonely
You're a beautiful woman
Oh, yeah (homely girl)
(Homely girl)
First, they want
A chance to hold you
(She was so homely)
Then they want a chance to
Try to control you, but oh, no
(You're a beautiful woman)
Now don't you know
I got to say it
Homely girl
Used to be lonely
You're a beautiful woman
Pans People used to dance to it on Top of the Pops (showing my age now lol) and i used to stand in front of the tv and do their dance, dont hear it now which is probably a good thing and no I wouldn't do what i used to do, dont think i could remember the dance now anyway lol

I use to dance the twist to the Beatles "Twist and Shout," and I still listen to it, and I still dance to it. My hubby & I often put on oldies songs and dance around the living room, and that's one of our favorites. We have a fun house.

Its not really a childhood song, but a teenage song. "Chicago, If you leave me now". My first boyfriend finished with me whilst this was playing in the youth club. When I hear it now, it still makes me a little sad.........
