The blue whale, Balaenoptera musculus, is the largest mammal on the planet. It is also the largest animal living or extinct. for the larger Antarctic subspecies, females average 27 m in length, males about 25 m . The largest blue whale ever recorded was incredible - 34m (112 ft) and 190,000 kg (419,000 lbs)!
