You say "STOP" to yourself strongly and force yourself to think positive thoughts- to re wire your thinking process.

It takes much discipline, but you have to for your own mental health.

These things are just facts of life. As far as your job, keep your resume updated and be on the lookout for better jobs. To some degree, you have control over that situation. As far as your friends, you have no control over if one of your friends should suddenly die or get very sick. But you do have control over your relationship with them. Be supportive and a good listener. Do both fun and serious things together. Widen your circle of friends so that should one or two friends drop you, you will have others.

These dangers in life will always be with us. But concentrate on the positive. If you sit around thinking "what if" you will lose lots of opportunity and worry needlessly.

I think you are stressing yourself with out the need.

Anytime you find yourself thinking negatively, STOP!

I tell my kids and my husband everyday......(and i have it on post- it notes around the house)

"YOU MUST THINK ONLY WHAT YOU WISH TO EXPERIENCE"

so , If you think negative thoughts, then guess what? negative will happen. If you are accustomed to being pessimistic it will take some time, but if you practice telling yourself only positive thoughts then eventually they will be second nature to you. Automatically you will catch yourself being negative and you will change you frame of thought to a good one.

No one, absolutely no one can change your attitude but YOU.
You are the sole owner of your thoughts and your brain.

Example: "what am I going to do if I lose my job?"

think, " I will not lose my job, I am good at my job, I will succeed at my job."
or
think, " If I should lose this job, there will be a better one
waiting for me"

I hope this helps. Peace and love your way.

Sounds like you are experiencing anxiety disorder. It's called anticipatory anxiety. Where you think of possible things that could occur, and then get yourself in such tizzy you can't think straight. You need to seek a therapist who can show you excercises to do to help you get over this. Don't freak out about the therapist thing. It's common today to seek help for any number of things. It can help put things in perspective for you and show you how you arrived at this disorder, how to treat it, and how to overcome it. There is light at the end of your tunnel. Be Happy!

everyone gets down when things happen...the idea is to prevent yourself from getting low by overthinking the situation. Instead think further ahead, think uplifting thoughts, and think about moving on. Sometimes when you overthink things you make them happen. So it's better to put those kinds of thoughts aside.

in CBT, those are called "automatic thought" or "stinkin thinkin"...you just have to be able to recognize when you are thinking those thoughts, and make yourself quit. it's going to take some time, but in order for those automatic thoughts to stop coming up automatically, they need to recognized and stopped...

look up CBT if you want more info (cognitive behavioral therapy).
