This is a serious question. If you plan on being cremated, would you consider renting a casket in order to allow your loved ones to have a viewing before they cremate you? I know that alot of people oppose having their loved ones cremated because they cannot see the body at a viewing and thus do not feel that they have received any closure. If this option were available, would you take advantage of it, or would you consider it too disgusting?

It is available. When the viewing is over, they take the satin lining out of the casket with the body, put it in a cremation container and take the body to the crematory. Another liner is then placed into the casket for the next rental. I have made my plans already and that's what's going to happen to me. I am one of those people who need to see the body for closure so that's how I want it.

That is already an option. When my mother passed away she wanted to be cremated and no visitation. That is what we did. But we had the option of buying a cheap casket (it doesn't look cheap) for a viewing and then they cremate you in this casket.

My Father died last year and we did that, so I guess when the time comes I will do the same.
I'm not opposed to having people look at the body, since what I believe is that from the moment we die our soul goes to Heaven, however, if a person has been in a dreadful accident, having the body viewed by everyone is a bit morbid.

I'm dead. My loved ones can do with my body what ever they wish. If they want to see me, let them. If they want to burn me, light-er-up. Personally, I want to be propped up in the bar and be the host to the greatest party ever. It's an Irish thing. Look it up.

Funerals are much like weddings. You go over the top for the sake of your loved ones. I hope my funeral will be like the wedding my girlfriend and I are planning. Short and sweet and simple, then have a good time at the party after.

I would rather not be viewed. The body is just the empty shell..the spirit has flown..
I would prefer my loved ones to remember the way I looked alive..

I'd rather friends remember me as I AM, not as I was.

Yes, now that you put it that way, that is exactly what I would do, but would a funeral director handle it that way? Are YOU a funeral director?
