There has been bullying in one form or the other from the beginning in shows like Big Brother, or Pop Idol, which deliberately play on peoples' differences for entertaiment. Not a murmur. Now an asian woman is being bullied by whites, there is uproar. I do feel sorry for Shilpa as she is so isolated, but i think it's wrong to have to wait until race is also an issue before intolerance and cruelty towards someone is seen as unacceptable and not just good TV.

But you have to see it as why are 3 white girls (no offence to anybody) picking on one person only, who happens to be "different" said by all three and happens to be Asian, they dont seem to picking on any1 else.

In the last Celebrity Big Brother, Jodie Marsh was treated 10 times worse than Shilpa.
What was done? Nothing.
As this year it is an asian, its racism.
ALL this is, is a culture clash.
Shilpa lives very differently to EVERYONE in the UK. As a result she doesnt know how to deal with how the others behave.
The other housemates are the same, but from the other viewpoint.
This happens all over the world and will continue to happen.

The only way to end racial tension in the world is to end race.
Destroy ALL countries, standardise everyones teaching and education. ban all religion.
Will this ever happen? Of course not!
But without all this, there would be no misunderstandings, no culture clash.
Intolerance and cruelty towards A person IS unacceptable, To react by calling an entire country 'racist', is also unacceptable.
Where is the line drawn?

The last CBB saw someone severely bullied by people of the same race, IT WAS STILL BULLYING.

The issue is now race but it should be WHAT is happening rather than the colour of the people that it is happening TO!

I'm with you there 100%. As I said in another question, Jodie Marsh was really bullied last year but nothing was said or done. I find what happened to her much worse than this year.

I also feel for Shilpa as she, as she said herself, is overwhelmed by the culture difference but it's gone way over the top. For Gordon Brown and the Indian Government to get involved is blowing it out of all proportion.

What happens now when there is a real, genuine race issue?

I totally agree with what you are saying here... I have never watched Big Brother as I see it to be about using vulnerable people to entertain. Though with this hitting the headlines I had to check it out... I find it disgusting that all four can be so hateful and devious (yes all four of them) but what shocked me the most was seeing the clip of Shilpa bleaching her skin. She said it was to get rid of face hair but putting it all over her face like that suggests she does it to whiten her skin. As an Asian woman I would know and that sickens me more... I'm proud of my beautiful skin colour!

What did they do when everyone was mean and bullied Shabaz the gay asian guy in BB in the summer. He was locked out in the garden by Sezer, where were the cries of racist homophobic bullying then?! When it suits people play the racist card and its all getting a little tiresome, somewhat boy who cried wolf scenario....
