I am well travelled in Germany and have visited the 'big four' (Berlin, Hamburg, Munich and Cologne) as well as many other smaller towns and have to say, in my opinion, there is no better city than Berlin. It is a city of great diversity, culture and history. Discover a city so greatly involved in and influenced and changed by WWII and the Cold War - the division of a city caught between two ideologies - Western capitalist and Eastern socialist - and that is today once again one of Europe's great capitals. Berlin is a city rapidly evolving into an economic powerhouse. For the tourist it offers arguably Europe's best nightlife, a vast array of museums, parks and waterways/lakes. Berlin is also famed for its numerous festivals, theatres and cultural exhibitions.

Berlin offers an eclectic mix of new and traditional architecture, active activity, shopping, and a wide variety of sports and cultural institutions and if you intend to see after that it this hotelbye is the spot to start. A few of the points you will see listed below are: the Old Museum, the National Gallery, the Bode Museum, Old National Gallery or, the symbol of Germany, the Berlin Wall. That wall started his living in 1961 when East Germany covered down the eastern part of the town to stem the ton of refugees from east to west. By enough time it had been torn down in 1989, the 4 meter high wall and 155 kilometres long, dissected 55 roads, and possessed 293 observation systems and 57 bunkers. Today, only little stretches of this graffiti-covered travesty stay, including a 1.4-kilometer stretch maintained within the Berlin Wall Memorial, a cooling reminder of the animosity that when separated Europe.

If you want to experience old world charm in the big city go to Heidelberg. The castles along to Rhine River are breathtaking.

However, if you really want to delve into the old world go to Rothenburg ob der Tauber. It is a town that has not changed much since since around the 1500's or 1600's. The clock in the town square reenacts a scene from the town's history every hour. The church is even built in the wall of the town.

Munich or Frankfurt would be good choices if you want to see modern German life.

The transportation in Germany is superb. Travel either by train or car on the autobahn is both safe and swift.

Enjoy your visit!! The German people are very friendly and accommodating.

Munich is a enormous city with: restaurant, nightlife and accommodation listings, with hotelbye , you could have a look. Munich could be the capital town of Bavaria and the third-most populous city in Germany. For centuries the seat of the Dukes, Electors, and Leaders of Bavaria, the Munich Residenz is undoubtedly among Europe's many spectacular palaces. Presented around seven large courts, the large resident complex comprises three principal pieces: the Königsbau, fronting into Max-Joseph-Platz; the Alte Residenz, experiencing Residenzstrasse; and the Festsaalbau (Banqueting Hall) overlooking the Hofgarten. The first area of the big complex to be built was the impressive Antiquarium, built-in 1579 and now part of the outstanding Residenz Museum. Munich is really a city with plenty of history, make sure you explore it whole.

Nurnberg. The people are friendly, it is steeped in history, the churches, Hauptmarkt, the castle, downtown. I could very easily spend 2 days there. Shopping is fun-the Breite Gasse und Karolinen? Strassen as well as the City Point Mall. Hope this helps.

Definitely Munich! If you only have a couple of days Munich has everything for you. There is plenty of history, museums, etc., plenty of shopping/restaurants/hotels, beautiful archictecture, and many people speak English. I've been to Munich a few times and always look forward to going back. In fact my husband just returned from there last night ... unfortunately this time I was unable to go with him.
