Well I went back to the ob/gyn today after going Monday..

Quick Recap: My last period was on Dec 18 and next one was due Jan 15. Well I started my period that day(jan. 15), so u was very confused as to why my period came and i had been getting positive results on the pee sticks.

So he did the blood work and a vaginal ultrasound. But he couldnt see anything has its too early....

Today: He did a second round of blood work. My hcg levels are so low..... 28 he said..... the 2nd round of blood work were to see if the hcg levels doubles... He said that I could have miscarried, producing the hormone slow or that this isnt a normal pregnancy....

Any ideas? I feel like he wasnt telling me something.....

It does sound very much like you've miscarried very early on in a pregnancy.

Most women have a "practice pregnancy" that they wouldn't even notice except that they were a few days to a week late. These days with the test so sensitive, we can take the test a day after we miss and get a positive, but the body rejects the egg, or it does not properly implant resulting in a miscarriage.
I think your doctor summed it up well, you may have miscarried, or it may not be a normal pregnancy. Usuallly the the hcg level doubles every 24 hours for the first trimester I think.

You may have gotten a false negative. False negative readings can occur when testing is done too early. Quantitative blood tests and the most sensitive urine tests usually detect hCG shortly after implantation, which can occur anywhere from 6 to 12 days after ovulation.[1] Beta hCG levels rise exponentially in the first two months or so of pregnancy so the earlier the test is performed, the higher the chance of a false negative result. Less sensitive urine tests and qualitative blood tests may not detect pregnancy until three or four days after implantation. Menstruation occurs on average 14 days after ovulation, so the likelihood of a false negative is low once a menstrual period is late.

False positive results can result from diseases like choriocarcinomas, IgA deficiencies, heterophile antibodies, enterocystoplasties, gestational trophoblastic diseases (GTD), gestational trophoblastic neoplasms (GTN), and testicular germ cell malignancies. Also, many home pregnancy tests show a positive or unclear result when read well after the suggested 3-5 minute window, independent of an actual pregnancy; this type of false positive is also known as an evaporation line. Additionally anyone who has been given an hCG injection would also give a false positive.

Some individuals react to some substrate in the test and thus will display a consistently low positive blood pregnancy test even though they are not pregnant. This phantom hCG may lead to serious misdiagnosis and intervention, but can be detected with serial dilutions. Patients with phantom hCG have a positive blood hCG but a negative urine hCG test

Your doctor wants for your Hcg hormones to double that tells the doctor that you should be able to carry this baby. My Hcg hormones were low and I miscarried the doctor told me the reason for the miscarriage was that the fetus was not viable. Keep strong and just pray and I am sure everything will work out for the best. Good Luck

the same thing happened to me , i was freaked out because my doctor called and said she wanted to do another test to see what my HCG levels were, because the first ones were low,and sure enough when i got the results back the levels had shot up and i was definately pregnant. Maybe they were low the first time because you were only a few days pregnant. Try not to worry and hopefully everything is okay.

If you haven't miscarried you very well could. I wouldn't count on this one making it to term. Usually when HCG levels are low the pregnancy cannot be sustained. It is possible that it is ectopic.

Your HCG levels should double every day if its a progressing pregnancy...if it gets lower its a miscarriage and if it increases slighlty i would ask them to make sure its not ectopic...that happened to me!!!
