Were the ratings low? Did one or more of the actresses get tired of the show?

None of these answers are correct so far to be honest.

The true reason why it was cancelled was because The WB and UPN merged to become The CW. When they did they chose only a few shows from each network to carry on to The CW. Charmed was not one of them because 1) The actresses contracts expired. 2) The show was always put on "the backburner" and due to that didn't get as much publicity as the other shows on The WB. Which in turn made it one of the shows that didn't make it. 3) Also, due to being on the backburner (not as much ads and the such) the show didn't get as much ratings as the others because no one knew about it.

Yes, the actresses (Holly & Rose mainly) didn't want to continue (even if their contracts were renewed and the show did make it) because they felt as if there was nothing more to do with the show; which I (being a MAJOR Charmed fan) agree with because the last two seasons (except for like ten episodes) were peices of crap.

It simply played itself out. Like, about 2 years before it finally ended as a matter of fact. Seriously, when The WB & UPN merged to make the CW, the had money issues with one or more of the "stars" so they cut the show loose. Plus, the dismal rating didnt help, i'm sure.

The network was having trouble paying the actors, and Holly Marie Combs and Alyssa Milano were co-producers, and the girls decided that they wanted to do other things. It was not just one thing. It ran for eight years and was in the top spot. It was a general consensus to bring it to and end. I do love the show!

the actresses didn't want to come back for another season because the producers and the network treated them poorly and didn't give the show it's deserving publicity and hype. But i LLLOOOVVVEED that show, I'm like addicted to it.
