Well, he did indeed handle the Cuban Missle crises. Of course we learned years later that some of those missle sites remained somewhat active well after the crises. The most important part of that was that he was able to signal, without bloodshed that we would take a stand against Soviet encroachments in our region.

He also set the stage for President Johnson's later signing of the Civil Rights Act.

In my opinion though, the most important aspect of President Kennedy's time in office was that he gave us hope. He eloquently painted a picture of what he thought this nation could be and encouraged us to strive for that. In my mind that makes him a great prsident. If any president can move us to aspire to be a greater people then that President has done a lot.

Is this a homework question? You received some good answers you can use. You may also want to do some research on your own. JFK was very important in many respects. Information should be readily available on the Internet.

If you have time, you may also want to go to your local public library and ask the librarians for some biographies of JFK. You will find many events involving JFK - as a an officer in the Navy, as a Senator and as President.

His term was short-lived because f his assassination, but he accomplished many things and inspired a generation in to public service.

Kennedy.... Failed support of the Bay of Pigs invasion. That encouraged the USSR to build the Berlin Wall. Kennedy did nothing about that. That encouraged the USSR to put missles in Cuba. Kennedy then brought the world as close to a nuke war as we ever were. When the USSR "back down" they came out of the deal over Cuba better off than the USA. (USSR removed missles from Cuba, USA removed similiar missles from Turkey. USA promised never to invade Cuba, USSR did not make an equal promise about Turkey. USA got the worst of the deal.) Then Kennedy stopped a bullet and will now live in history as a "great president."

he started the process of integrating the Southern states of America, by that I mean he sent the Army in to allow Black students into White collages and end segregation by race in the school system.

There was a famous incident when the then Governor of Alabama, George Wallace was physically pulled out of the door of Alabama University by troopers of the 101st Airborne so that a black student called Vivien Malone could walk in (I wonder where she is now?)

Additionally he was the man who took the decision that committed the US to put a man on the moon by the end of the 1960's ... probably if he hadn't made that decision, Man might still have not gone to the Moon (unless the Soviet Union managed it)

so he was responsible for two great things...

One thing is he went toe to toe with the Soviet Union over the Cuban Missiles and won that confrontation for us which was really really tense - we were right on the brink of nuclear war - also he made a famous inaugural speech that included the idea of "don't ask what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country".
