I mean for 20 years now the public has been educated about this theory yet people still think that global warming means it is not going to get cold anywhere.

Because we live in a world where the vast majority of people don't understand science (70% of Americans don't even know how the scientific method really works) and don't care to find out. I've been saying this a lot, but only because I think it's so retarded, but 48% of Americans believe humans lived alongside dinosaurs!

Anyway, they hear about Global Warming on the news, maybe read an article or two and then think they understand it. "Global warming must mean that the whole planet is getting warmer at the same time" would be an example of such ignorance... Of course they don't bother to become educated on it and make their own decisions past that point, instead they look to the media spin doctors and friends.

It's very much the same with other areas of science. Almost nobody understands what Evolution really is. Most don't know how Earthquakes or Tsunamis or Hurricanes are started, they have no clue about a great many things... I would not look to being educated as being indicative of general knowledge of a subject, at least not in this country. The rest of the world acknowledges global warming, the only debate remains here and mainly among pundits and the news...

First of all, this is true mostly in the USA where people also believe in creationism, are scared of being probed by aliens, and voted for a mentally challenged pretzeldent not once but TWICE in a row.

I think it has something to do with a misguided macho attitude, my way or the highway kind of thing, where it is cool to disregard impending disaster and cool to watch WWF on TV or jerking off to cheap porn on the internet.

Watch the movie Idiocracy, it is a silly comedy but it caracterizes very well this kind of brutish ape.

I'm still waiting for the coming Ice Age (1970's), Silent Spring and the death of the Oceans, massive world starvation (due in the 1980's courtesy the Club of Rome), and the usual Nuclear Winter.

Apocalyptic thought has been a big sale item for centuries. Now excuse me while I go flagellate myself, since my sins have brought about the melting of the Southern Martian ice cap.

And pass the beer and the Soylent Green chips and don't let that ManBearPig through the door. Thank you.

Your average scientists can't agree what global warming is so how do you expect your average citizwn to understand it. In any event, it is NOT caused by man but by natural phenomena. Global warming and global cooling are cyclic and have been occuring for eons. Man has no control over it.

All man can do is try to make it an issue for political reasons. Fortunately, your average person is not buying into it.

Mankind has been adapting to global warming for over 10,000 years.

If only we had the technology to stop volcanoes from exploding creating the greenhouse gasses - then it would stop.

I think that the bigger issue is educating the brainwashed tree huggers that think that they have the power to stop global warming.

They don't care enough about the planet so they just blow it off as nothing or ignore it all together.

Because the theory is a bunch of liberal bullshit.
