Hi My daughter is nearly and was diagnosed with kidney reflux during the summer. She went in the hospital last April with a high temp and vomiting.
She had a very bad kidney infection. From there they arranged the MCUG and they found the reflux on both sides. She is grade 3 though, so she's right in the middle.
No op needed tho.I have an app for a kidney specialist in April to determine any scarring on her kidneys. My sister had this to and had about 5 ops before it cleared up for her.You need to check any repercussions on the op as the professor who looks after my daughter told me a couple of things about the op and the stuff they use and how it can affect them in later life. There is a chance that the reflux can heal by itself, but obviously it depends on how may infections your child is having etc.
My daughter is also on an antibiotic every night, just 2.3 mls of it.
know how you feel, if you ever want to chat I think my email is available.
Hope all goes well for you and your child!

My 3 year old son was diagnosed with this at 6 months. One of his kidneys was severely infected and has ended up badly scarred. We recently had a scan done and the kidney hasn't grown but the other is normal. I think our next course of action will be to have the bad one removed as it may cause problems with the other good one later on. I've been told that loads of people don't even know they were only born with one kidney and they're fine. Also one kidney can run on just 30% of it's capacity.
Louis is on anti biotics until he's 5 and has annual check ups.

my little girl is now 4 and at my 12 scan they picked up that her right kidney was dilated and alot larger than the left one....they scanned me all the way through the pregnancy every month and after the birth she was put on a drug to stop any infection with the possibility that the kidney may need surgery because of the reflux....after a whole year of tests and surgery hanging over our heads it got better all by itself...keep ya fingers crossed as she may sort herself out as my little girl did and they told me it would be surgery.Good luck

My baby actually had to have a kidney removed when he was only 5 weeks old. I discovered that babies/small children recover amazingly fast from operations. He had an enormous bandage round him, but he was quite relaxed and happy, and I could stay and do things for him in hospital. We actually went home after just a few short days, and returned for him to have bandage/stitches removed. He seemed totally oblivious to anything going on.....its mum and dad who are falling apart!!

I was a baby with acid reflux i am now 11 and i am totally fine! Your baby will be just fine! I also was a projectile vomiter. I am also OK from that too! For the acid reflux you should get cherry flavored Maalox and ask the Doctor for one of those things you give a baby med to or just use a spoon. I can remember it feeling like you had really bad hiccups I know what it feels like. When your baby gets older and he/she ever has heart burn it will hurt more then normal heart burn but T>R>U>S>T me on this the baby will be fine
