Spin the drum by hand and if the bearings are away or on the road out you will hear them. If you can't hear them and depending on what the noise is it could be your brushes on the motor, these are carbon and ware down.

If you are lucky and it is the brushes these are cheap to replace by yourself IF you are a very competent handyman or indeed an engineer.

well if I knew which washer it was I could give a better answer but some models will last a long time while making a loud noise on spin while other have but a short period of time left on this planet.any spin bearing replacement work will be EXPENSIVE,and if you have to buy a new washer anytime soon I would steer clear of front loaders or electronically controlled washers .Go to sears and get a direct drive and you will be fine.

The washing machine, itself, might have gone off the hinges - that's what happens with mine. The spin cycle may be strong for the hinges/tracking keeping the machine in place.

Easy to replace and aquire.

It is probably unbalanced. This could be a result of how you load it, or it could be that the washer is not level.
