Most Tensioner have either a 1/2inch or a 3/8 inch slot or some
means of releasing the tension on it and tool designed to do this
are readily available at most Auto Parts Stores....

usually a 1/2 inch breaker bar will fit into the hole and allow you to release the tension

What do you mean installation tool? Is it not bolted on from behind?
