I dropped my iPod from quite a height and now it wont work. I've even managed to bend a corner of the metal casing. It also now rattles inside. I imagine that I would have broken the hard drive too.

Is there anywhere I can get it repaired or should I just buy a new one? It's one of the first video iPods that came out (G5).

Thanks

If you take it to the Apple store, they will look at it and try and fix the problem. But if you hear something rattling inside, it might be totally broken. Imagine dropping your computer CPU... would you rather get it repaired replacing parts, or buy a new one? Apple might suggest you buying a new one... you would get a recycling discount for donating your old one.

Take it to an apple store, one with a genius bar. They will be able to tell you your options. They may offer you a refurbished G5 for significantly less than a new one, or they may recommend a new model. The new video ones are very sweet.

you can find the nearest apple store with genius bar at apple.com, you can even book an appt on-line.

Well, depending on how long youve had it, you can send it back and see if they will fix it for you... but you might have to pay for all that.

Im not exactly sure, go check out their website, but i sent mine back and got a new one and only had to pay for s&h and mine was pretty messed up.

good luck !
