Let's see. First of all we are raising a "puppet" democracy in the middle east that will give us a military base for future operations. We are also trying out new weapons and military tactics in a real life environment (I'm sure all the generals are thrilled). We also securing building contracts and oil drilling rights thus raising wealth of already omnipotent energy giants. Oh, yeah, we are also effectively controlling population growth by sending our own military to get killed as well as Iraqi civilians. A job well done.
