Just because anyone who is not a Republican doesn't agree with you doesn't make them any less American or proud!

We just think the way this is unfolding ....Is in fact solidifying and creating terroristic thoughts to the rest of the Muslim community.
IMO.

Democracy or let's be frank.....Capitalism isn't something you can "force" a country to attain.
It has to be a desire!

Is 21,000 more troops going to effectively change anything though???
Quit screwing around and get the job done!!! Our military knows how to effectively win there they need the TOTAL support of the country to accomplish this task!! Most people are angry because this should have been accomplished 2 YEARS ago!!!!
Yes NOW that Bush has engaged us..... to leave Iraq wounded and bleeding will ensure the fact that we will be back when Iran attacks!!

No, they are just imitating the Pres and Vice Pres when they said you are either with us or you are against us. When the men at the top breed division and intolerance, it is only natural that others will do the same. It is a disgraceful that our President would want to divide the nation so violently, but that is how we got to this point.

Because they think the only way to make an impact statement is through violence, like murdering Md's and bombing and killing Women's Health care center workers! Just for the record, both the Oklahoma City Bomber and the Atlanta Bomber, plus Oswald if you believe he killed Kennedy, WERE all in the military! I don't know what that means except where it concerns me. I have know how strong those feelings are and how fragile vets are who get no care. That is why they used to go into post offices and kill all of their bosses. Though I have done no study there would seem to be a correlation primarily on the fact that people who were in combat have little qualms about killing anyone. And they use all kinds of names to dehumanize people. We did in Korea and Vietnam, and I am sure most of the people on here know the terms, except in Iraq it is a little different as they are not oriental!

I am a Conservative... and before I continue, I just want to say that I appreciate the way you state your questions. You are very good at not stirring up partisan hate, IMHO.

If asked, I believe the majority of Americans would say that they want America to win in Iraq or wherever we are discussing. However, I have seen people who are unable to answer "yes" to the question of whether or not they want us to win. David Letterman's answer was, "I can't say yes, because I'm more thoughtful than that."

So as crazy as it sounds when you read that somewhere, there are actually people saying that they do not want America to win. I have seen it here, and any of a number of other places for political discussion on the internet.

I know it's an extreme example, but go to The Democratic Underground and ask the question, "Do you want the United States to win the war in Iraq." and see what answers you get.

I also believe there are those in positions of power among the Democratic party who do not want America to win, because it would give a win to the hated Bush Administration.

As far as this question goes, I see it a lot like the way I see Islam and it's followers. Most Muslims do not believe that violence in the name of Islam is a good thing. However, there is a respectable sized segment of the Islamic population who will not condemn it outright, either out of fear or because they're just not sure what to think. I believe that plenty of Democrats wouldn't feel bad about America losing, and a few that just don't understand the big picture well enough to decide, so they'll go with their favorite liberal ideologue.

There are Conservative who go with the flow of their favorite pundits for the same reason, so I am not calling Liberals sheep or comparing them to terrorists. That's just the best analogy I could think of.

I do not believe that you want America to lose.

Liberals want us to retreat from Iraq. So who would be the winner? Terrorists. They are against the Patriot Act, which allows the tapping of phones of suspected terrorists and people suspected of communicating with terrorists abroad. What does that tell you? They are also against the government searching suspicious packages in the mail, which could be bombs or chemicals. Even though this has been done for far longer than people realize. Why would they be against something that was created to protect the safety of our citizens? They blamed Bush for the leak of the Saddam Hussein hanging. They blamed Bush for Saddam Hussein even being hung in the first place. They compare our president to Saddam Hussein, which is, I'm sorry to say, uncomparable. So tell me what you think about Liberals really being concerned about the future of this country. What ideas do they have that concern the future of this country? I'm still looking for realistic answers and solutions from Liberals.

No, I don't think they want the terrorists to win.

But their actions and words certainly do not convey the feeling that they want the US to win, or at least not with a Republican in the White House. In all the words they speak, I have yet to hear a single one address the likely global political fallout that would result in yet another ignominious retreat and a failure to live up to our commitments.

All I hear are attacks on Bush, as if only the Republicans have a stake in the outcome of the War on Terror, and that the liberals have no dog in the fight. When Chapaquiddick Ted said "Iraq is Mr. Bush's Vietnam" it was the most loathsome crap he's ever spewed, and showed the myopia of the Democrat party as favoring partisan political power over all other considerations.

You can try to argue otherwise, but you'll be hard pressed to convince me. That's 4 years of tongue wagging to overcome.

I think that the uglier things get in Iraq, the more the very Liberal Democrats like it. I have heard people say that they don't want the Soldiers to die, but that the United States needed to be driven from Iraq so humiliated that we wouldn't try to go to war again.

As a liberal, you should stop and think about all of the innocents that will die in Iraq, if we pull out too soon. It will be a genocide like that in Somolia, Darfur, and Kosovo. Death and mayhem will be the rule in Iraq. Do you want America to have thereputation that we will go into a country, depose their leader and then leave the citizens to fend for themselves? It's disgusting and shameful to think that I served thirteen years in the military so that Americans can have that point of view. Liberals and Democrats can kiss my big white A-ss.

Why can't you peple stand side by side with the president, side by side with our troops and side by side with the New Iraqi Government and the Iraqi citizens?

No, not all conservatives. But there is definitely a resonable percentage of them that do believe that tripe. It's really quite pathetic actually. Such is the power of the right wing dominated AM talk radio. Oh and Fox news plays a huge role in this as well.

REALITY CHECK:

If it meant winning the White House in 2008, THERE IS NO DOUBT IN MY MIND that Liberal Democrats secretly hope for soldier deaths and terrorist victories. I know it for a fact.

The statement is a weak tactic designed for the weak. It's groupthink, to say the least; "If you don't think this way or that way, you must be the enemy". Nobody wants to be the outsider, so they think with the group.
