Solve the given forumla for the variable shown in color. State the restrictions, if any, for the forumla obtained to be meaningful.

S = n/2 (a+1); a <--a is in color

Ok..just can't seem to grasp this concept..

First, multiply both sides by 2:
2S= n(a + 1)

Now, divide both sides by n:
(2S)/n = (a + 1)

Now, subtract one from both sides:
(2S)/n - 1 = a

The only restriction i can see is that "n" can NOT equal 0, since you can not divide by 0.

a=(2S/n)-1
n different than 0

a cannot equal zero or neg one.
