It is extremely rare but many psychologists believe that fantasies associated with Necrophilia are more common than originally thought.

There is some surprising evidence that has stated that the percentage of sexual deviants is higher among those whose occupation is related to funeral homes than the main stream of society.

This can be caused by a few things among them, the desire for a unresisting partner, the desire to comfort or receive comfort, sexual attraction, the desire for a reunion with a sexual partner and the desire to overcome a sense of low self esteem by dominating the corpse.

Where in general most people would overcome cursory impulses there is the belief that familiarity with the corpse allows people who's employment is centered around the dead to disassociate with corpse.

Either way it is disturbing.

They had to ban it? How was it ever legal in the first place? I don't know how common, but once is too often. That's so gross! It must be fairly common if they have a word for it.

I do not think that it is that common, I hope not anyway. :) But what is really scary is that they had to pass a law that make it illegal to have it.

I'd say it's a mental illness because it would take someone that's not all there to do that.
