for me it was production and quality control.

Consider that apart from military components, crap cars like the Lada, weapons, and the excellant Mig-29 and Mig-31 jet's, they never exported anything that was made in the country.

In school we had this as a debate, and I challenged anyone to show me a home consumer product made in the soviet union that was good enough to compete with German or Japanese products - no one could think of anything!

Therefore the only money coming in was through selling limited quantities of oil, and diamonds. This meant that an unsustainable amount of their GDP was being spent on military hardware...

So eventually Gorbachev had to admit they were bankrupt ...

Housing is very limited in Russia, often children will marry and stay home with parents, who often live in a two room apartment with a small kitchen. Wages are also very low and jobs limited. Certain foods are still hard to obtain. They have come a long way, but have a long way to go to come up to what are considered modern standards.

Incapable Leadership from day one,one man show,and the one man from day one was incapable,it was basically a country with no law no rules except of ones who get a chance..
