You should be fine.... unless the marke completely crosses out a major element of the check (name or amount).

If you deposit the check into your account at your bank, you would be amazed what you can deposit. Once deposited, the payor would have to object to the settlement for you to have a problem. If there is no fraud, you have no concerns.

I have seen checks made out to completely different businesses deposited with no problems. No one in the banks cares about little things as long as you are depositing in your own account, where your bank has recourse and thus less concern about detecting fraud. (Their concern is in cutting costs, and reviewing each instrument is too time consuming.)
