are there any chemicals I can use other than the normal brass polishes. I have used vinigar/salt and flour mixture but need something more powerful

Try NOXON brass polish and plenty of elbow grease. You may have to do it a few times if it's really bad

This one I remember watching on "How Dirty is your house" with kim and aggy, they used tomato ketchup and plenty of elbow grease. The thing to remember though is whatever you use to clean it with needs to be removed or it will end up tarnishing again really quickly.

im a boat captian have faith me get some cameo from wall mart or maximum everywhere that sells cleansing materials mixture a sprint cameo and water to make a paste rub it on with a rag till sparkling rinse with sparkling water as quickly as shiney returned word 2 coats of turtle wax u would desire to in no way would desire to polish it returned purely dirt it soaking in kool ade works nicely too yet i assume that's in basic terms too super for that
