Give me stats of how many yards they have now and how many you think they will have when they retire. Give modest estimates.
Personally I think if Marvin Harrison can stay in for at least 6 more years he will reach 23,000. Marvin Harrison currently has 13,700 yards. That means he would have to have 1400 yards per season to reach that goal...its a stretch I know but he's got the best chance.

Also Jerry Rice was 41 when he retired.

If you look at seasonal averages and age, then Torry Holt probably has a better chance of breaking the record than does Harrison.

Harrison would have to play until he's 40, averaging almost 1,400 yards per season over the next six years. He hasn't reached 1,400 in the past five years, so it would be surprising to see him actually put up bigger numbers with age.

Torry Holt has a career average of 1,334 yards per season. If he kept up that average, he could break the record at the age of 38, which is far younger than the age at which Rice retired. Even assuming that he drops to 1,200 per season (he had about that this season), then he would still break the record before turning 40.

All of this is huge speculation, of course, because 6-8 years is a long time to keep up such heady performances. I thought Randy Moss would be a lock for this a few years ago - huge numbers, and he started at such a young age - but he's fallen off a cliff.

Well if you go by years, jerry rice played 20, with the last couple being scrub years, but harrison has only played 10. so if he plays 10 more years, which would be an acievment in itself, however he is rarely injured missing only 6 games in his 10 year career and his steady numbers, he would only need about 920 yards a year for the next 10 seasons. I wouldnt like to see him go out like Jerry Rice did, just to get the record. i already think he is the second best receiver of all time, and with 3 or 4 more quality years, I'd have him surpass Jerry for best all time.

Others with a chance: Torry Holt, and no one else puts up consistintly big numbers. Chad Johnson consistently puts up ok numbers, but nothing spectacular like Harrison and Rice's 1700.

Craig S knows his sh!t. Gave great reasons why Marvin Harrison can't do it, and great reasons why Tory Holt can (and recognizing a WR who always gets looked over ----EVEN RICE DIDN'T MENTION HIM WHEN ASKED WHO THE BEST WRS ARE NOW ON COLD PIZZA! (he mentioned Harrison, TO, and Moss (he said he HAD to include them --which I agree because if they got their attitudes in check and could be "perfectly happy" (tho probably impossible for TO) they are some of the most physically talented WRs ever).

So yeah..stat wise Marvin's never been that impressive (he's just really talented physically and a clutch go-2-guy), with his 99-02 stretch of huge #s coming with 100+ receptions (which are rare) each year (and a high avg. of 14.5 --low of 12 in his "best" season ^^(guy above me) that 1722 was on 143 catches!! -------and Chad's only started 5 years, give him a break.

No. He's 34 years old. Although he may play for 6 more years, he had less than 1150 in two of the last three years, so expecting 1400 yard seasons every year into his late 30s is insane. He's a lock for the Hall-of-Fame, but he should finish with about 18,000. He's only had 1400 or more in 4 seasons of his 10, so no.

Marvin Harrison is the only one right now with a shot. Since you just answered your own question though, who gets the 10 points for best answer?
