This is normal for babies that age, I'd say you need to put her in a walker, you may think it's crazy, but it's not, she needs to get a feel of her strength and needs to exercise it, put it to work, this would be the only way for her to stand up, or stay up and feel the surface so she can get moving, otherwise if you think this might not be something you want to try early on, keep on holding her hands and make her walk in front of you holding her hands and tapping the floor, it's little steps at a time, the walker would really be beneficial, I hope it works, Best wishes!

My daughter was the same way. She was not interested in crawling or walking, and it took a lot for her to learn to sit up. She was chunky, but I don't think that is why she wasn't interested in crawling, etc. I think it was just her personality.
But if you're worried about it here is a suggestion: my mom used to put a blanket under her stomach like a swing or sling and lift her up with it a couple inches into the crawling position and "help" her crawl around the house. This way her hands and knees were free to touch the ground and she got the hang of it eventually. Be careful not to hurt your back while you're doing it though.
All in all, I think some babies are just not interested in moving as much as others are. My daughter finally crawled at about 11 months old and still wasn't interested in it. Now she's almost three and I can't get her to sit down! So don't worry, your baby will do it when she's ready.

Most babies have chunky legs, that is not the reason she isn't crawling. My daughter never really crawled at all, she went from pulling herself around to walking. I wouldn't worry about it, she will do it in her own time.

Hi, my son is 9.5 mths old and in the same boat. He has been off the charts for height and weight since he was a month old. I have read numerous times that heavier babies my have a harder time getting around. My son pulls himself forward but can't stay up on his knees yet or pull to stand. He stands well when I stand him up next to the coffee table, but he just can't seem to kneel properly to pull up on his own. He also can't get into a sitting position if he is laying down.
I think the best thing to do is just hang in there. Some babies never crawl. I am thinking that my son could be one of them. He would rather stand and walk holding our hands than lay on the floor. I never crawled as a child, I just started cruising (but my parents told me they never gave me much tummy time either). As long as she is trying or can move around somewhat, I think things will be fine. Is she pushing backward? Rolling around the floor? Pulling herself forward? Sitting unsupported? These are all good things for her to be trying to do at this age.
Another thing is don't listen to all the braggarts who boast THEIR child was crawling at 5 mths, walking at 7 mths etc. Our babies will do it when they are good and ready!! Good luck!

hunny when you find out let me know my son is 7 months and he cant even sit up on his own the doctor told me he will most likely develope slower because he is so much heavier than most so dont worry you cant make her learn before she is ready she will learn at her own pace.
