I wear black eye shadow, clear gloss and heavy liner for definition and I happened to have dyed my hair black. My mom calls me goth, but I don't think Iam....Am I goth, or is my mum just a little bit off?
I have nothing against goth people either, so don't think I do!

Here is the easiest way to answer that. Are you a fan of goth music? That is the simplest definition of what goth is. Here is a very large list of goth bands (and all the many sub-categories that spawned from it) If you like a good number of them, then probably haha.

As the person above said, a goth is a person who listens to goth music. So if you don't, then you're not. Just because you wear black eye shadow and heavy liner and have your hair dyed black doesn't make you goth, so yeah, your mother is off.

Goth is a way of life its not what you look like on the outside. Though you can be goth and have any colored hair. like half of my hair is green while the rest is naturally black. I just like the colors my friends call me that but its whatever you feel i guess.

If you don't think you are, then you're not, but don't worry about it. People often call anyone that who is a little darker aesthetically. To be a goth, you would be a person who adheres to a gothic aesthetic in music, art, literature, etc, and not just in your appearance.

And i wouldnt trust you mums opinion on stuff like that anyway.

Your appearance may cut somewhat close (though I can't safely say since I don't know exactly what you look like), but a good way to tell is what you act like and what you are accustomed to. If you're into death and evil stuff, and you are gloomy and depressed, then I'd probably say yes, but it's on the scale of whether or not you think you are..

"Goth" is a bit old-school. I might have used that word myself (I'm 32.) But if you're something else, just be something else and let her know what you really are.

Goths are barbarians, such as Ostrogoths and Visigoths, who made life miserable for everybody in Roman times. So, are you a barbarian who does that?
