A friend of a friend has put a photo of me on the internet. It was taken about 8 years ago. I was out with the crowd when it was taken (and yes i was fully clothed). I typed my name into Google for interest and it came up. Also on there were various friends at parties at home and us at gigs around town.
The problem i have is that there is a link under these innocent photos inviting people to visit another site.
On visiting it i discovered it is an erotic/bondage photo site.
I didn't know this guy was putting us on the web and i don't want to be associated with his other site.
What can i do? Where do i go to complain/get pics taken off?
Serious, genuine replies only please.

Yes the guy who took them has a seperate website.
And no i am not taking life to seriously, i am surprised that innocent pics can be linked to another site without the subjects' permission.

There's not much that you can do about this but you can e-mail the search engine and ask if the link from the search engine to the site could be removed as it contains unauthorised pictures. You could then go one step further by asking the website owner or the domain host to remove the page from their site. You should be able to find a contact page on decent websites. The host may not allow this so you could write threatening to take them to your local UK small claims court.
Good Luck,
Richard

You probably have little recourse to have the pictures taken down. In many places, like my home state of Florida, it's perfectly legal to obtain images and video of a person and use them as you see fit, provided you do not break any laws by distributing it (for instance, if it's pornography and you don't have proof of the model's age on file). It only becomes illegal if you capture audio of the person's voice. I don't see much chance of taking them to court. At the very best, you could email the maker of the site and ask that your picture be taken down.

That relies upon how and the place the photograph exchange into taken. in case you willingly posed for the photograph, or the photograph exchange into taken in a public place, then because of the fact the copyright proprietor of the image, they are able to do what they %. in case you shriveled with a photographer to take the photograph and the settlement states that the copyright is going to you, then they are able to't use it. further, in the event that they took the photograph in a restroom or your place or yet another inner maximum place, the place you have an expectation of privateness, then they are able to't use it without permission.

Did the person listing the photo take the photo? Which country are you in? You see I can take a photo of anyone on the street in the UK and list it somewhere on the net.

I'd report the guy who posted the pics to the police and see what they say, you may have grounds for a civil prosecution.
