Check out the bargain bins at your local craft shop for any type of small "silk" green leafy foliage. I would expect for your purpose a garland would work particularly well, especially the curly kind that would easily wrap around your puppet. Also pick up the largest googly eyes you can find, or a pair of large buttons that can be used for eyes. A bit of red felt can be used for a tongue, if you would like one, and don't forget some glue. Start with a long green sock like a ladies' knee sock so your arm will be covered. After you put in your hand, tuck the end of the toe inside to form a mouth, then glue on your eyes and tongue or make marks as to where they should go while your hand is in place. I would try just wrapping some of the leafy garland around the puppet (while it's on your hand) and seeing how that works. Depending on what foliage you've found, you may not even need to tack it in place, just wrap a piece of it around the puppet right before you perform. You can also remove single "silk" leaves or small tendrils and glue or sew them on however you like.

too easy.

get a green or brown sock, grab some twigs from outside and stick in the sock -- maybe find an old dead vines you can attach to the twigs with string.
